Stephen it’s actually very easy to get meat from your quarry however the easiest way I’ve found is with game birds and de-breasting.
I was doing this today so I took some pics for you, it’s very easy and rewarding.

Select your bird, today I will be using this pheasant.
I like to remove some feathers before I make the cut in the skin.
Make a small cut just under the rib cage and then pull the skin aside.
You should now see the the beautiful breast meat.
Find the breast bone and cut along it carefully to free the meat. It doesn’t have to be neat, unless that’s your thing.
Now take the meat inside and pop some music on (today I’ve opted for the self titled debut Skid Row album………..hush now or I will fight you.) to make the process even more enjoyable.
This is where I wash the meat and cut off any excess not required or trim away damage from gunshot. This is entirely up to you of course but it’s my preference.
When you finish take the scrap offcuts and fry them up.
Give them to your dog, they will love you for it.
And with that you now have a very tasty cut of meat for your dinner, it’s really that easy and with de-breasting you don’t have to deal with the innards etc.
Now all you have to do is get out there and bag yourself a couple, or ask a hunter friend to hook you up.
